SMR Day Twelve - You Can't Fix Nothing

One of the big-three reasons people give me for not living on fire and on purpose, especially at midlife is: ⁣

"I don’t know what to dooooooooooooo.”⁣

So they double down on journaling and internet quizzes, and conferences and make solemn vows that this year will be different. ⁣

That’s not a bad idea, but if you’ve been doing that for a year or more, you’re probably stalling because you're afraid of something. ⁣

The thing that really gets us unstuck and on purpose is PICKING SOMETHING AND STARTING TOWARD IT. COME WHAT MAY. ⁣

Most of us, when eyeballing the second half of our lives and the blank canvas it can present, will try to control for every possible outcome before we begin, because we’re afraid. ⁣

Ok cool, but you can’t control for step 26 when you haven’t taken step one. ⁣

BECAUSE YOU CAN’T FIX NOTHING. ⁣

Until you start doing stuff with your life, your gifts, your passions you won’t know what works and what doesn’t. ⁣
In order to know, you’ve have to try stuff and (gulp) FAIL a bit. That’s how you know what works and what doesn’t.⁣

So grab that vision board. Pick the thing that makes your heart beat fast.

Work out some next right steps.

Prepare for some unexpected outcomes.⁣

They will happen and when they do, you’ll handle them.⁣
