Be A Pro - Even If You Scream

As part of my #summerhiatus, I made a commitment to write a book, or die trying.

Today feels like a dying day because I've hit the place where I normally quit (aka: Chapter 3) because this writing is soooo bad, this practice is hard and lonely and it's just easier to get up and go do literally anything else. Plus, it’s summer and who advances their goals and lives on purpose when it’s hot and people are grilling hotdogs?

If you are a writer, artist, or creator of any kind, I know you get this.

Because I am good at eating the cake I feed everybody else, I reached out to Chief Firegirl JSteele and ran through the angst. She said something typically hilarious and completely true.

"Maybe God needs you to scream through your swim lessons, so you don't drown when He takes you to the ocean."

Then she dropped the mic. I do hope every one of you is blessed with a wise, funny, truth-telling friend like @foodisdelicious4428

When I stop screaming, I remember every writer or artist has to write a sorry first draft. What separates pros from amateurs? Pros keep writing because they know you can't edit a blank page.

So please my loves, be a pro. Keep going - even if swim lessons suck. Whatever it is, push through all the judgment and the noise and just keep creating because if you don't, we'll never get the benefit of your work and you'll never see who you'll become in the process.

ps. Not sure how to be a pro or what even what you want to work on? We can help with that. Our flagship Meaning of Midlife course is on hiatus for the summer (so I can write a book) but will fire back up in the fall. If you want to know when it opens again, reach out here and we’ll keep you posted!
