Be Generative

I did a series at Girl Catch Fire a few months ago on happiness hacks: like how to be the happiest person you know. Be generative was Number Four.

It's an unusual word and we don't use it much, but we should. It just means being capable of production or reproduction. ⠀

The good news/bad news is this...⠀

We're all producing and reproducing all the time. Like stones tossed into a still pond, our impact makes ripples of some kind, no matter what. Unless we're awake and choosing to generate love, our ripples can be mean, judgy, self-centered, hateful, selfish, whatever...⠀

As you go about your day, what ripples do you cast? ⠀

What if, before your feet hit the floor in the morning, you decided to be generative? ⠀

For example, today I choose to be totally present with whoever is in front of me, really see them, hear them and give them my full attention, no matter what's going on.⠀

Do you know how many people feel like nobody sees them? Doing this for anybody is an amazing Christmas gift. ⠀

Choosing exactly what ripples you plan to send out into the universe is a superconscious behavior that helps you be at cause in your own life, not just effect. Plus, whatever ripples you put out are what you'll get back - but that's another topic. ⠀

Who knows what becomes of ripples, but they sure are pretty to look at. ⠀
