Four Things A #Firegirl Knows For Sure
“You don’t have to wear red lipstick to be a #Firegirl. But it helps.” - Firegirl One.
Have you ever found yourself saying, “I want to make my life matter but I don’t know how.”
You think about it, dream about it, buy gratitude journals, create vision boards on Pinterest, read self-help books and still day after day, you do the same old work, have drinks with the same old people, love your family in the same old ways.
The good news is you have a job! And friends! And family! The great news is you have what we call “holy discontent.”
Maybe you feel guilty for having all the things you said you wanted (family, work, friends) and yet inside you're still searching. We believe the reason is, you have a purpose only you can fulfill, and if you don't it feels like a scratchy tag in your underwear. Until you get busy doing the thing you were created to do, and loving a bunch of people along the way, it will get scratchier and scratchier.
Nobody wants that.
“But what do I do? I’ve tried everything I know and nothing changes,” you moan.
We get it. We’ve been there, but we got out.
HERE ARE SOME THINGS A #FIREGIRL KNOWS
Thing One - It’s impossible to know what you were created for if you don’t know who created you and what He's all about. If you’ve never met your creator, we’re dying to introduce you, so the two of you can slip off for a chat about things like your identity, your value, your purpose and your legacy.
Thing Two - Once you get to know him, (by the way we call him Jesus,) he’ll show you around his kingdom, which is not a place as much as it is a way of being in the world. In short: God is love. Jesus is love in human form and the only currency accepted in the Kingdom is love for yourself and your neighbor. You have a job to do in this Kingdom. Is that news to you?
Thing Three - Even if you’re not a big church-goer, you might recall hearing the phrase “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” It’s in the Lord’s prayer. If you’ve had a look around lately, earth doesn’t much resemble heaven. It takes a deep trust, a disciplined mind and a clear channel to bring heaven to earth. But doesn’t that sound like interesting work? That’s kingdom work.
Thing Four - The world needs more #Firegirls shining like beacons in sad and broken places, because light always wins - always.
What does a #Firegirl look like?
Besides the red lipstick, a #Firegirl is a woman who has done her work. She’s said yes to God and no to herself. She’s disciplined, devoted and obedient. She refuses to live selfish even when she wants to. She has surrendered to a life of faith and allowed God to burn off every last thing that is of no use to him. She’s purified now - refined like gold - and she knows her value.
A #Firegirl loves red lipstick and cute shoes but she knows they’re just for fun. It’s people and their stories that matter. She gives them her keen ear, her wild mind and her soft, red heart. A Firegirl creates and collaborates and doubles back to help other women climb the ladder.
A #Firegirl is devoted to God and she’s often found curled up in his lap, talking to him and listening. She hears God all the time, and does her best to do as he says. He loves her and she loves him.
A #Firegirl is fierce and funny, unafraid of the way God made her, but willing to change anything he asks, trusting that he sees her in ways she doesn’t yet see herself.
How do you become a #Firegirl? It’s a process that begins and ends with the one who loves you and created you for a purpose. We want to help you discover Him, so you can discover your what for.
